Several French government departments were targeted by a series of cyberattacks starting Sunday night. The government activated a crisis unit in response.
While the attacks are still occurring, the effects have been reduced and some websites have been restored. The prime minister’s office released a statement.
Since [Sunday], several government departments have been the subject of cyberattacks whose technical methods are conventional but the intensity unprecedented. Many ministerial services have been targeted.
Anonymous Sudan, a pro-Russian hacker group, claimed responsibility for a “massive cyberattack” in their online posts.
They were denial-of-service (DOS) attacks, a common type of cyberattack that involves flooding a site with data in order to overwhelm it.
