Meta’s Facebook, Instagram hit by widespread outages

Users of Meta’s Facebook and Instagram platforms experienced login issues. It appeared to be a widespread outage. The social media platforms were inaccessible for hundreds of thousands of users. The outage lasted about 2 hours, and appeared to affect people globally.

People trying to access the sites were asked to login but were unable to login with their correct passwords.

The outage was among the top trending on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Meta said it had repaired the issue that caused it. “We resolved the issue as quickly as possible for everyone who was impacted, and we apologize for any inconvenience,” Andy Stone, a spokesman for Meta, said on X.

Meta hosts more than 3.98 billion monthly users across its apps each month.
