A US military ship, the General Frank S. Besson, is headed to the Middle East to build a floating harbor to help bring aid to Gaza by sea. Aid deliveries by land have proven difficult.
The United Nations has warned of impending famine in the Gaza strip and children are starving to death.
The US and Jordan airdropped more than 11,500 meals on Sunday. This included canned food, rice, flour, and pasta. 5 people were reported to be killed on Friday when a parachute failed to deploy.
The Pentagon has said it could take up to 60 days to build the pier with the help of 1,000 troops – none of whom would go ashore. Gaza has no port infrastructure.
